The task of an automatic fire detection system is to detect fire, to alarm and activate the preprogrammed control functions. State-of-the-art fire detection systems are capable of detecting fire extremely early and thus of minimizing the damage that may be caused by fire.

A fire detection system consists of the control unit, the peripheral devices such as firedetectors and contacts, as well as alarm and control devices activated by thecontrol unit.

 

 

 Conventional Fire Detection System

   The conventional control panels are a cost-efficient solution for small to medium-sized applications. You benefit from quick and easy installation and little maintenance; intuitive operation buttons and informative display indication ensure quick and easy operation. Furthermore, system testing can be performed with confidence using clear, concise controls and indicators.

   With a collective connection, all detectors with conventional technology are connected in parallel to the same stub so the following aspects must be taken into account:

• Only one alarm message or fault signal can be evaluated per stub line,

as the detectors are not individually identifiable.

• Communication is unidirectional, from the detector to the control unit.

• In compliance with the EN 54 standard, a maximum of 32 devices may

be connected to one line.

• A line terminating element is installed at the end of a stub, with a monitoring

current flowing through this element. Based on this principle, the fire detection

control unit can monitor the line up to the line terminating element, but not the

connection to each individual detector.
